Integrating Statewide Programs
The California Interregional Blueprint will also incorporate recommendations from the following statewide programs to implement the CIB concept and measure progress. Fact sheets with information, status and web links for many of these statewide programs are included below.
- California Regional Blueprint Planning Program promotes the linking of transportation, land use, housing, and the environment through the development of a vision for future growth that supports transportation plans and projects.
- Smart Mobility 2010 - A Call to Action for the New Decade assists in the implementation of multimodal, sustainable transportation principles and strategies and provides performance measures to guide progress towards the successful implementation of the CIB.
- Complete Streets has been adopted in Caltrans policy as a key consideration in planning, designing, operating, and maintaining facilities. Complete Streets are designed to ensure transportation choices and enable safe access for all travelers including bicyclists, pedestrians, people using mobility aids, motorists, and transit riders of all ages and abilities.
- California Essential Habitat Connectivity Study provides additional tools to incorporate natural resources early in the transportation planning process in order to sustain the State’s unique natural heritage.
- Caltrans Climate Action Program includes both mitigation strategies for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and adaptation strategies that will ultimately ensure a more sustainable transportation system essential for a successful CIB.
- Real Time Multimodal System Management provides new technology to enhance our ability to manage the transportation system in real-time and in a way that integrates all modes, including Real-Time Transit and iCone technology.
